We bought our house in 2003 here in Ashland, Ohio. As an overeager 23 year old who had obviously watched way too much HGTV, I wanted a house with character that I could fix up. Now here we are in 2011 still working away at it! Ha! I really do love this house. I never really thought that I would one day live in a beautiful house on a hill with a white picket fence! So here we are ready to start our new project, our Studio! Being a stay at home mom, I have been set up in the living room so that I can keep an eye on our little one. But with all of my designing, and cutting of paper I may be creating more mess than she is! So on to my own space. I have commandeered the front sunroom to do the office. I love how it is full of light and how I can gaze out of the windows when I daydream.
We have some work to do on it since we have not touched it since we moved in. So we have some interesting wallpaper borders and paint up plus have to figure out some extra insulation. We are also going to attempt building a number of the furniture pieces, doing our own draperies, and some of the other fun touches. I would love to complete this in a week, but I have seen "Renovation Realities" on HGTV and with being 6 months pregnant and looking after a toddler, I will instead take it in pieces. The great thing is, that I will be able to share the process with you and possibly get help from you as well! (I am sure I will go crazy over some of the details that I will want some input on) I am so excited to share this process with you and to have a fabulous posh space!

So excited to find your new blog! I think you just might be a kindred spirit :-) I love decorating (and re-decorating), hosting fun parties, and crafting of all sorts! Can't wait to follow along on the transformation of your sunroom to your office. You're right, I'm sure a beautiful view will be so inspirational.- Hope your day is a good one!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous of your studio (even unfinished)! I wish I had a space all to myself, and I don't even craft or anything. I'd be so great to have someplace to sit with my laptop, somewhere to keep all of my writings and everything. There definitely is no place in this house for it! The house next door to us has been up for sale the past 2 years. The price keeps dropping and my husband jokes that he's going to buy it and turn it into a man cave. I told him no way...it'll be my Mama Cave! It'll never happen, but it's fun to think about :) Can't wait to see what you do with your studio!

Can't wait to see what you end up doing to this space! I LOVE all the windows ...
ReplyDeleteJust be careful -- being pregnant is not the time to be taking on too much in the "remodeling" area. I know - we put an addition on our house (basically doubled the size) when I was 7 months pregnant. I was constantly sending the workers (our friends) into spasms when they saw me climbing ladders and such.
i just found your adorable blog and etsy shop and i am your latest follower! xo
ReplyDeletep.s. we are almost neighbors! we are in cleveland!
