Today I am a mother of a 3-year-old! Where does the time go. When I asked Yanna what kind of birthday party did she want she said that she wanted "A Princess Fairy Garden Tea Party." Ok, specific..."And Mommy, don't forget about the cake!!" Right, Got it!
So pictures of grand cakes came up in my mind, but after just frosting the Mardi Gras cupcakes this week I had a whole new respect for those who do such incredible cake decorations! I am not a pastry chef, but hey I am a printable designer and wanted to come up with a way to decorate a cake with paper! So this is what I came up with for the party. My hubby baked the cake and cupcakes with Yanna for me while I designed and printed the printables. I have wanted to figure out dress boxes for some time now and putting fairy wings on them just made me all happy. So in the end we had an awesome time putting this together and the look on my daughter's face when it was all finished was priceless!
The cake was a standard white cake with cream cheese almond icing that was dyed green. Dave came up with the idea to dye the coconut for grass. So the cake and cupcakes themselves were pretty quick and easy to put together. Adding the printables took a matter of a few minutes to place onto the cake and cupcakes (that is, after they were designed). This would be a great project for the busy moms and dads on the go! I hope that you like it as much as my daughter!

Just for the fun of it
While our weather has taken a 180 degree turn from out beautiful weather from last week, we have gotten creative on some extra projects at home to keep our daughter occupied. My daughter was running around the living room and wanted daddy to play with her green light, red light. But in our haste to make our house in-law proof, she was bummed when she was told that it had to wait. So I brought her to my desk and we designed our own stop light. In the end it worked out pretty nicely. She got to feel like she went to work with mommy and she had a new toy to play with. Later when I told her to show her stop light to grandma and grandpa she said that she didn't know where it was, "That's ok grandpa, Mommy can make a new one!" riiiight...:-)
So I figured for all of you that may be snowed in tomorrow with little ones, this may be a fun project/game for you! And hey, even if you are in a nice, warm, sunny location, this could still be fun! Enjoy!

Boy or Girl?
For the past week I have had a hard time focusing. We are now at 31 weeks and have been starting to get serious about preparing the house for our new addition. But the more I sorted through baby items from our daughter, the more I became aware that if we have a boy we would only have white onesies for him. Pretty much all of the sleepers and clothes we have for 0-3 are pink! Even the yellow and green clothes have frills and pink accents! Our 18 week ultrasound he or she crossed his or her legs! We were really bummed. Our super sweet doctor told us that she would sneak in an ultrasound at our next appointment. So for the past week this was pretty much all I could think about. We had our appointment yesterday and once again, baby didn't want to show off for the world. So we STILL do not know! For a lot of rational people out there, this may not be such a big deal. But for a hormonally imbalanced pregnant woman trying to plan everything it has been quite the ordeal. So I decided that I might as well have some fun with this. Do you think that we are having a boy or a girl? Comment below. This pregnancy has been the polar opposite of my previous. I should come up with a printable set for this!

Superbowl Posh! I do not know what to call it, but it is Yummy!
I am not a gourmet chef by any means, but I am quite "inventive" when it comes to cooking. With the weather being like it was, we did not make it out to do grocery shopping for the week. Last night we got side tracked at the hardware store inventing my desk and after fitting all of the materials into the jeep we didn't have room or energy to continue shopping. So today breakfast was made from scratch, German Crepes YUM! Today, we were once again distracted by the studio building and did not make it out to shop. So tonight I was stumped. I started with a pound of ground beef in the pan, Dave handed me a half bag of frozen peppers and onions from our fall crop, I threw in a dash of salt and pepper, and a sprinkle of some taco seasoning, I found a can of black beans which I washed and threw in, sprinkled some of my daughter's cheese pieces into the mix and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. I took a taste and felt like it was pretty good! Although, what to serve it with? This is when my poor husband was made to go out into the cold and snow to pick up a bag of corn chips from the gas station up the road. Totally worth it, he ended up only being able to find the scoop chips which was a happy accident. We then put together these little bowls! First, we scooped in the meat mixture, added a little dollop of sour cream and sprinkled with cheese. Then we put the salsa on the side. They looked so cute and were so darn Yummy I couldn't help but take a picture of it to share. What a great idea to put together for the big game! So little time (especially if you do not have to send anyone out into the snow for the chips!) very inexpensive, and perfect finger food size! Try it out and let me know what you think!
